Executive Summary

This report presents findings of UWONET national research study that interrogated the factors hindering access to justice for women and children. The report is divided into four main sections including Section 1) which provides the introduction and background, rationale, objectives and scope of the study; Section 2) presents key findings of the study on access to justice in the formal and informal justice systems; Section 3) presents assorted relevant data and identified best practices to guide programming on women and children justice and; Section 4) presents the study's conclusions and recommendations to address some of the identified gaps as well as guidance for more realistic and holistic programming to enhance women’s and children’s meaningful access to justice.
