Executive Summary

Gender based violence (GBV) in Uganda is perceived as a national problem and of growing concern because of it’s linkage to the spread of HIV and STI’s, unwanted pregnancies, high mother to child HIV transmissions, traumatic incidences which impact on the dignity of the victims and productivity in general.

In Uganda GBV prevention and response strategies have been integrated in the main development frame works to address GBV as a core strategy to achieve the National developed Plan of promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.
