Executive Summary

The GoU–Irish Aid Joint Programme (JP) to address Gender Based  Violence (GBV) in Busoga region was implemented from 2010 –2015 with financial and technical support of Irish Aid. The region was targeted based on Uganda Demography Health Survey (2006) findings which established that Busoga region in Eastern Uganda had the highest incidences of sexual violence cases against women (53%).

The programme was designed to contribute to improved quality of life and enjoyment of rights for all through reduced vulnerability and social tolerance to GBV in the community particularly among girls and women. The programme targeted the eight districts of Bugiri, Buyende, Jinja, Kaliro, Kamuli, Iganga, Mayuge and Namutumba.
