The commission on the status of women 59th session 2015

With regard to the promotion of women’s rights and the documentation of the realities facing women through out the world and shaping global standards on gender equality and the empowerment of women,The commission on the status of Women (csw) has been holding its 59th session currently taking place at the UN headquarters in New york, the two week long session which started on the 9th – 20th march has been focusing on review of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action after 20 years of implementation, the emphasis is on the challenges that have affected the implementation and the achievement of Gender equality and the empowerment of women globally.CSW59_FINAL_675px_landing page-01

UWONET is represented by its Executive Director Ritah Aciro Lakor to share some of the key issues and findings that emerged from the 2nd women’s week(20th-24th Oct 2014) whose parallel sessions were organized based on the 12 areas of the pillars of the Beijing Platform.We hope to strongly influence the Beijing +20 agenda for the betterment of women’s rights in Uganda.
